Inscribing a Pipe Mouth
Pipe mouths must be inscribed on the inside of the pipe before the pipe is rolled up and soldered. Several tools are used to lay out the shape of the mouth, and about 2/3 of the thickness of the pipe metal is cut away with a hook. The mouth is then pressed in with a burnishing tool after the pipe is round.
